Terms of Use
These terms cover robostem.org, the site run by RoboSTEM Foundation Inc (“RoboSTEM”, “we”, “us”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Saratoga, California. By using the site you agree to them. Our programs, events and software each have their own terms where they need them, and those apply alongside these.
Using the site
The site is free to read and free of accounts. Use it for what it is for: learning about our programs, reading the Newsroom, reaching us and finding our tools. Do not try to break it, overload it, scrape it at volume, probe the console or analytics endpoints, or misrepresent yourself as RoboSTEM when you talk to others. We may block traffic that does any of that.
What is on the site
Our writing, pictures and video are copyright RoboSTEM Foundation Inc unless credited otherwise. You may quote and share them with a link back, and teachers and teams may print or copy them for non-commercial classroom and team use. Please ask before republishing an article in full or using our name and logo to promote something.
Our software (OpenScout, Vsim, statIQ Lite, VEX Jumper and anything else we release) is licensed under the terms that ship with each project. Those terms, not these, govern the code.
Third-party marks. VEX, VEX IQ and VEX V5 are trademarks of Innovation First International. RoboSTEM is an independent nonprofit and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Innovation First, the REC Foundation or any school district.
Programs and events
Information about camps, workshops and competitions on this site is a description, not a registration. Places, dates and fees are confirmed when you register through the process we give you, which may include a separate agreement, a waiver or a school's own paperwork. We may change or cancel a program if too few people sign up or volunteers become unavailable, and we will refund any fee we collected for a program we cancel.
Donations
Donations to RoboSTEM Foundation Inc are tax-deductible to the extent United States law allows. They are not refundable, and we spend them at our discretion on the mission described on our Transparency page. Sponsorship of a specific program is arranged in writing before the program runs.
Links and embedded content
We link to and embed YouTube, Discord, Instagram, Google Forms and other services we do not control. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for what they do or show.
No warranty
The site and its content are provided as they are. We work hard to keep guides, statistics and event information accurate, but they can be out of date or wrong, and you use them at your own risk. Robotics involves tools, batteries and moving parts; nothing here replaces the safety guidance of your teacher, mentor or the equipment maker.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law permits, RoboSTEM Foundation Inc, its directors, volunteers and mentors are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or its content, and our total liability for anything connected with the site is limited to the amount, if any, you paid us to use it, which is nothing. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply as far as they can.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes are heard in the state or federal courts of Santa Clara County, California, though we would much rather sort things out over email first.
Changes
If we change these terms, the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
